Wolf

The layout for this card was from Clean and Simple stamping several weeks ago. I completed making it at that time, but never seemed to get it posted! So, here it is!

I used an image and the sentiment from In Wilderness (SU). Paper is Always Artichoke, Kraft, Very Vanilla and Manchester DP.
It IS rather clean and simple - and maybe has a little too much blank vanilla space - but I think it'll be good as a masculine card.

The Colors of Halloween

You just gotta love all the wonderful colors of Halloween........Have you ever wondered why you associate certain colors with different holidays? I mean, why not use green for Valentine's Day and red for Halloween, and black for Thanksgiving, etc....Kinda makes you stop and think!

Anyway, back to Halloween. As I said before, I'm really not a big fan of Halloween, but I do LOVE all the purples, oranges, greens, etc. that you see on cards this time of the year.

This is somewhat of a CASE from a card I saw in the Sept./Oct. issue of Paper Crafts magazine. Very simple looking - however, getting all those little panels cut the same and them spaced right was just beyond me. Sometimes, the easiest looking projects turn out the be the hardest! And no, you're right, I didn't get them spaced exactly right but I'm hoping that the recipient of this card won't notice. The sentiment and spider are from Happy Haunting (CTMH).

The Spirit of Christmas

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday - and going to have a great weekend coming up!

This is for Diva Coffee Break Designs challenge (sketch) #195. Go check out that site - they have fun challenges each week. It also qualifies for the Stamp Insanity challenge (embossing).

The image is from To You and Yours and the sentiment from Snow Swirled (SU). I heat embossed the image using Egyptian Gold embossing powder (Judi Kins). That stuff really shines! I dry embossed using the Snow Flake and D'Vine Swirls folders. Card stock used was white and Cherry Cobbler. Two different sizes of pearls from SU were also used.

Albino Bat

This is one of the cards I struggled with this weekend and have to say it just ended up "so, so" as far as I'm concerned. One time I look at it and like it and the next time I look at it and don't like it at all. Now first of all, look at the coloring on this pumpkin....and THEN go over to Dana's blog (Dana's Inspirations) and check out her pumpkin AND the tutorial on how to color it!!!! Whoa, is that pretty or what! Then we get back to my pumpkin and go......well, at least I'm trying!!

This cute little image is for Designed 2 Delight for the progressive challenge. This really isn't my cat at all.......mine would just look at that spider and go on about her business! I used some SU and CTMH paper. The sentiment and the albino bat are from Happy Haunting (CTMH). We all know that bats are black/gray......however, when I tried to color it, it kept losing it's appeal... It just has such a happy little face and coloring it just seemed to cover up his smile. So, we have an albino bat!

In The Wild

This will be a birthday card next month for my brother who loves wildlife - and especially birds. The image is from In Wilderness (SU). This fantastic sketch I used is for Sketchsaturday. I keep thinking that maybe I should have used a little distressing or something....but then I like it just as is, so why mess with it! Right!

I hope everyone had a good weekend....we spent ours watching ALOT of football. Well, actually hubby watched football and I was in the craft room - with no mojo! I struggled so bad with a sketch I wanted to try! I finally just gave up and started watching football! How bad is that!

Tiger Swallowtail

I actually had a card to post today - but thought I'd post this picture instead to wish everyone a happy upcoming weekend!

We were sitting outside on the patio this morning and this beautiful Tiger Swallowtail butterfly landed on some Vinca that was sitting on the table right in front of us. It was just begging me to get a photograph of him!!!

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.

A Line of Horses

Since I have a couple of guy birthdays coming up I figured I'd better get some masculine cards completed. This is a VERY clean and simple card but I like the looks of it for all the cowboys (and wanna-be cowboys) out there.

I actually used something on it I'd never used before (SHOCK, I know). But I'll tell you this - I don't know if I'll EVER use it again!!!! I sprayed the panel with the horses on it with Black Magic Glimmer Mist. Maybe I just need to read about how to use this stuff or something - but it was just a MESS! I finally ended up taking it outside to use.

The images came from Stampabilities called Horse Line and the sentiment is from CTMH (Happy Birthday). I used Cherry Cobbler, White, and Black card stock. The entire panel is popped up on dimensionals and then I tied some raffia on it.

Maria Wins

Ok, Maria (Crafty Creations) wins!!! I've been trying to learn to color with Copics....sometimes I do ok and sometimes, not! After mentioning I only had a few Copics, Maria sent me about 5 or 6 of hers saying she didn't use them and I could have them!!! How sweet was that!! The reason she said she didn't need them is because she colors most of her images in Prismapencils. Now if you want to see some pretty coloring go check out her site!!!

Anyway, after seeing what she does with the Prismapencils, I decided to ATTEMPT to start coloring more with them ........ and colored this little image that way. So, Maria, you win...and I'm going to start using them more again!!! I still need ALOT of practice - but maybe someday I'll get the hang of it.

The image is from Designed2Delight for the progressive challenge. Isn't this little bear "sew" beary cute! If you didn't get the image by playing in the progressive challenge, you can still order it. This is also for the Double Delight Challenge - to sew on your card using this image.
Almost forget!
Thanks to everyone who selected card number 1 or 2 on the previous post. It ended pretty well in a "tie".........so I guess I'll just have to select one - or maybe do like Susan said, and send both and let him choose!

Door Number 1, 2, or 3

My brother in law called the other day and wanted me to make a card for him to give his wife for their 50th wedding anniversary. They will be re-newing their vows next month for this occasion. He said he wanted it (now get this) funny, cute, loving, sweet, pretty and unique! Now how do you do something funny - yet loving??? So I created two cards - same image (Bugaboo).

Ok, Door Number 1 is this first card.............I used some Cherry Cobbler, Gold (for the 50th) and white. The fuzzy looking stuff is Mulberry paper that a very dear friend (thanks Kristin) had given me a while back. It's really pretty with the little gold threads running through it. I used glitter on her dress. On the inside it says "I'm so glad we committed."

Now Door Number 2 is the second card............I used some Vanilla and Riding Hood Red on it. The little "puffy" heart was in a box of odds and ends I had. Again, I used glitter on her dress. I haven't put a sentiment on the inside so if you pick this card, give me some suggestions for that!

Door Number 3 - is NONE of the above - and yeah, Lynn, you need to go back to the drawing board!!! If you pick Door Number 3 - I would love some suggestions.

So which do you pick..........Door number 1, 2, or 3????

Autumn

Autumn isn't here yet - but hopefully will be soon. At least the colors on this card remind me of autumn...that's a start anyway! Susan sent me a picture of a card using these images that someone had done and posted on SCS. She thought I may want to CASE it at some time in the future. Well, I lost it! Yep, it's gone.......to where, I don't know. I'm sure it's in this lovely computer somewhere but have no idea where at this time. It'll turn up though, I'm sure. This isn't a CASE of the card but similar since I used the Pocket Silhouettes and the Autumn Days images (SU) and cut out the pheasant. The layout I used for this is for the KAH-Wink-E-Dink challenge - a sketch challenge. I LOVE this layout!

I used some Cajun Craze, Old Olive, More Mustard, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla. I sponged (lightly) around each of the panels. Now this is where it just got tricky......Ok you've got the middle image in Old Olive, so you sponge in Old Olive, right! Now, you have the next image in Cajun Craze, so you sponge with that color.....Doing good......Go to the last (why is it always the last one?) image and it's stamped in More Mustard. I grab the ink pad and start sponging away and look down, and lo and behold, I've sponged in Old Olive! UGH!!!!! Gotta fix that so I don't have to re-stamp that image.........So I took all three panels and sponged them in all three colors! YES!

Tough-ie

Ok, this was just a really hard card for me to do!!!! The image, from Designed2Delight for their progressive challenge, is just lovely.......however, I COULD NOT come up with whatever I thought I wanted to do!! BUT, it's done......I will say this.....I'm kinda looking at it as a piece of art. They say that when you look at art you should stand back from it and not view it close up so you can get the full effect! Well, if you "stand back" from this, it really is nice!

I used some Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla, and Soft Suede paper. The sentiment is from a CTMH set. I colored the image with Copics and crayons! Yes, crayons...........

Oh, on a side note here - if you have time, go check out this site: Sincerely Babette! She makes the cutest little projects and today she's got a darling purse with a few accessories! Very cute, Babette.

For the Kids

Stamps R Us Challenges is having a fun and fabulous challenge for the next two weeks - with prizes, prizes, and more prizes!!! This is also for OWH - after completing your card and entering it in the Stamps R Us Challenge them please consider donating it to OWH - see the details on the challenge blog.

I used a Stampabilities "Snoopy" stamp for my main image. The little balloons were stamped twice and "popped" up on dimensionals. Since cards for OWH do not want glitter on them, I used Stickles instead. The layout (from June or July) is from OWH.

Go check out the Stamps R Us challenge!

Let it Snow

Just a very quick (and short) post here with this card for the Get Sketchy challenge (layout). I used Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and White. The snowflakes were punched with the MS snowflake punch and then "glittered" to give them a more wintry feel. AND I have another Christmas card completed! Whopee!

As a side note - hope everyone is safe from the hurricane that is getting ready to hit the east coast - my thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

The Saga of Sassy

The reason for this title is because I just have to tell you a story (I'll keep it short) about Sassy - our cat - who just happens to look very similar to the cat in this card.

First of all, a little background. I have two children (both married). My daughter has two little girls - Lily (who is 10) and Sadie (who will be 4 in a couple of weeks). When Lily was 3 years old and visiting, my daughter told her she could get a kitty - as long as she left it with Mimi (me) and Pa when they left since she's allergic to them!!!! You just GOTTA LOVE your children sometime!!!! Anyway, while they were visiting we went to the shelter and picked out the cutest little solid gray kitty you've ever seen. She played with it (probably a little too rough), named it Sassy, and then went back home to Lubbock leaving it here! Two days later, it promptly died!!! Well, every time Lily would call she would ask how Sassy was doing. I just didn't have the heart to tell her the truth and of course, my dear daughter was not going to tell her either.....so I just kept saying Sassy was good and getting bigger every day. Ugh! About 3 months later they all decided to come for a visit again - and I had to find another gray kitty QUICK! Believe it or not I actually found one that was similar. To this day, Lily still thinks this is the original Sassy - but it's actually Sassy number 2.

The main reason for this little story was to take your mind off how bad (I think) this card is!!! I just could not come up with anything I was happy with. The image from Designed2Delight is just so cute - but my mind was not kicking in on what to do with it at all!!! Here it is anyway. It's also for the Double Delight challenge - to use some summer type colors.

Anyway, I hope my story of Sassy made you forget about what the card looked like!
