Kicking Off The Holidays

Happy Ho, Ho, Ho!!!  I thought I'd start the holidays off right and give you a Funny Friday!!!  Just once I'd like to be able to dress like this for Christmas - to give everyone a thrill.  I'm thinking I'd be their very favorite elf!!!

The stamp I used is from Art Impressions and I love this little gal!   I colored her with Copics, added a bit of Liquid Applique to her hat and rhinestones to her shoes and earrings.  This card got a little "busy" real quick - maybe it's just too much red and green and that patterned paper.

Jim took one look at the card and said she looked just like his sister!  YIKES!  He's already got dubs on it and will send it to her this year!   She really does have a sense of humor though so think it's going to be ok.

Thank You Squares

A really quick card today........but I DO have a Funny Friday coming up this week!  Yeah!!!  I've been such a slacker lately on those and would promise to get better, but know better than to do that with all the holidays coming up.

Does this scream SPRING or what!!!  I had all this stuff laying on my desk and decided to throw it together and have another thank you type card done.  Easy beans!

I want to take a second here and give a great big huge THANKS to Tammy over at My Craft Central!!!  I've been trying (ever since I've had a blog) to get my photos on here to look right - they're always TOO big or TOO little.  I've tried so many different things and none of them seemed to work.  I commented to Tammy the other day asking how she got her photos so pretty and just the right size (plus, she makes fabulous cards!!!) - and she told me how she did it!!!!!  I've still got a lot to learn on the clarity, etc. but feel like I'm on the right road now.  So, this is my "test" photo on posting a horizontal card.  I'm still a "work in progress" but feel like one of these days I'll get it now.  So, Tammy, thank you again so very much!

Speckled Pup

We're starting another {Pin}spirational Challenge today so come on over and play along with us.  We're being sponsored by 2 Cute Ink who also provided some of the images you'll see from the DT.  Be sure and enter the challenge for your chance to win a wonderful prize package from Cute Ink.

Hubby and I were getting ready to go out to dinner with another couple the other day and after dolling myself up a little I asked him how I looked!  He said I was as cute as a speckled pup........GROAN!!!  Of course my response to that -  no, dear, these are liver spots, not specks!!!  LOL!

Anyway, 2 Cute Ink provided this image of the cute little pup and I just gave him a bunch of specks (not liver spots) - more like a dalmatian than a dachshund - but cute just the same.  I popped up the heart a bit and added the "LOVE" sentiment.

Here's our {Pin}spirational photo for you!  Isn't this little puppy cute!  I love the glasses and muffler on him too!

I've really been missing in action around here - but the good news is that I survived Thanksgiving weekend!!  WAY too many people coming and going.  Yesterday was spent getting the house back in order and dragging out a few of the Christmas decorations.  I didn't even look at the cyber Monday sales and am so proud of myself for that!  Hopefully, I'll get a card or two made pretty quick now and be back in the swing of things soon.

Thanks for stopping by.................

Thankful

We're celebrating Thanksgiving here in the U.S. today and to many that means friends, family, football, and good eats!  But no matter where you are or what you're doing, I hope you have a fantastic day!  We all have so much to be thankful for.

This image is from Brokenbox Stock and she's holding some yummies to eat - pretty much like what we'll be dining on tomorrow since we have our Thanksgiving Day feast on Friday instead of Thursday in order to get everyone here on the same day.  I'll be pretty much hit and miss until Monday due to company coming and then going and then more coming.  Looks like I've got a busy weekend ahead.  I'll be by to visit everyone's blog when I can.

The sketch I used is from The Sweet Stop - with a spin of  tasty treats - and I'll enter their challenge this week.

Doing Wheelies

No, I'm past the age to do wheelies I'm afraid.  I'll leave that to the younger generation!  But, I did use a "wheelie" on this card.......actually a SU wheel  that has all the cute little snow people on it.  Since I never could get the hang of those wheel things, I un-mounted them all from their wheels and just use them as  regular stamps now.

I would say that this was a quick and easy card to do - however, it really tried my patience!  I had  in  mind what it was going to look like and started with centering the sentiment in the middle and down a little more than half way from the top of the card.  The problem came when I started lining up all the snow people........I used four of them from one side of the wheel and four from the other.  FINALLY got it where they're all in a row and now life is good once again!  LOL!   I used some blue Stickles for the snowflakes above the little guys but they keep appearing black in the photo.

There's a new challenge on the block called Addicted to CAS and I'll enter this in their challenge that's themed "snow" this week.

Coffee, Tea, or {Pin}spirational

Before I get into the challenge at {Pin}spirational, I have to confess that  I hate coffee!  Yep, always have and always will.  Now I know some of you are probably groaning and thinking that may be un-American of me or something, but I just don't like anything about it.......sight, smell, taste, etc.....  So when I saw the inspiration photo at {Pin}spirational Challenges, I kept picturing a bottle of water, tea, or a Diet Coke sitting on that swing.

Instead of putting up a post with a diet soda sitting on it, thought I'd pull out a couple of SU sets that I'd never used before and try those instead.  The sets were given to me a while back and I don't have any clue as to why I kept them.  I used the cup from one set and the sentiment from the other one - and I'm going to pretend this is a cup of steaming hot chocolate or hot tea.

Sorry to get off the subject there.......It's time again for another challenge from {Pin}spirational!  Be sure and stop by the blog and check out all the inspiration from the DT.  We're being sponsored this week by Fresh Brewed Designs!  Be sure and enter for your chance to win a wonderful prize package.

Masculine Thank You

We need to tell guys "thank you" sometime too!  I never seem to have a thank you card for just a male so here goes......clean, simple, twine, no fancy embellishments (not that I do that much anyway), Kraft card stock, some "male-ish" DP, and embossing!  I used some Ponderosa Pine (CTMH) card stock and ink and the image is from the Lovely as a Tree set from SU.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I stamped out the image and then popped it up on Dimensionals.    The embossing folder I used was Distressed Stripes.

The sketch I used is from CAS(e) This Sketch and I'll enter it in their challenge.  I'll also enter into the challenge at Mark's Finest Papers (Pop It Up).

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and thanks for stopping by...........

White

I've never made an all white card before - but almost achieved it with this one.  And believe it or not, this is not for any design team or challenge what so ever!!!  I made it because I wanted to!!!!  I just don't do that often enough any more.  Sometimes I get too caught up in trying to think of something to do just so I can enter it in some challenge or another that's out there.....but not this time and I feel so good about that.

A lot of white here - and dots too!  The images are from SU and that's about all you can say about it except for the fact I completed another card for Christmas!

Turkey In The Hay

This is my second post of the day.........my {Pin}spirational post is directly below.

The theme of our challenge at Shopping Our Stash is Thanksgiving OR a Thank You card!  Be sure and check out the blog for all the rules and inspiration from the Design Team.  AND, use up some of that stash!

This is Turkey in the Hay (not Straw)!  The hay came from a field close to our house and I thought he'd look pretty cute on his bed of hay.  Thanksgiving is right around the corner and what better time to say Happy Thanksgiving than with this cute turkey image from Karen's Doodles!  I colored him with Copics, cut it out, then popped him up a bit.  The paper. image, and sentiment are all from my stash! Did a little zig zag stitching and it's ready to be mailed.

I'll enter this in the challenges at Stampin For the Weekend (All Stitched Up), QKR Stampede (Hey Turkey, Strut Your Stuff), and Broken Box Stock (Thanksgiving).

This will be my last post for the Shopping Our Stash Design Team.  I've decided to step down and try to focus on some different things in the upcoming year.  I'll miss all the wonderful ladies on the team but y'all know I'll never be far away.  Thanks so much for everything!

Yummy Goodness

Our {Pin}spirational Challenge starts today with a YUMMY photo!  Come on over and join in on the fun for our challenge and you may be the next winner.  We're being sponsored by The Digi Garden - who also provided us images for this challenge.  Be sure and enter our challenge this week........we'd love to have you!

I did something a little different this time and decided to fill a jar with candy and decorate it.  I never do this type of thing so it's not very elaborate or anything like that but at least the sentiment (SU) and image sums up what's on the inside of the jar.  I used some lemon drops and candy corn for the inside.  I would say the candy corn is left over from Halloween, but it's not.  About the only thing I like about Halloween is the candy corn - so I buy a bunch of it  - AND THEN EAT IT!  No other way around it......If it's here, I'm going to eat it!!!  So to fill up the jar, I just bought more!  By the time you finish reading this post, I'll probably already have eaten all of this.  Is that considered an addiction?  LOL!

Anyway.....here's the yummy {Pin}spirational Challenge photo!!!

Stay tuned for my Shopping Our Stash post - which is coming up in a minute - and can you say GOBBLE, GOBBLE, GOBBLE!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by........

Ladybug Love

The challenge at CAS(e) This Sketch really had me stumped this time - and then I remembered I had these buttons.  Two ladybugs buttons (placed at different lengths) and one heart button (placed a little lower than the "bugs").  The sentiment is from Wonderful Words (SU).  When I first started stamping, this was one set that I HAD to have!!!  I think maybe I've used it two times - max!   Oh well......I used some textured white card stock - and that's about it folks!

A short post and a CAS card!

Thanks for stopping by........and I'll be by to visit everyone later.

On A Roll

This may not look like much to y'all, but I'm so proud of myself!  I present you with a Ric-Rac flower!!!

I've never even attempted anything like this before and it only took me one "mess up" to get it done!  I had about four feet of this red Ric-Rac and was determined I'd do it - so found some instructions, cut it, stitched it, heated up the hot glue gun (that I swear is older than me), and started rolling......and I was really on a roll too!  In fact I rolled it so tight it wouldn't budge.  SO, grabbed the two feet of this stuff I had left and tried it again!  It may not be perfect, but it was an accomplishment for me......not that I'll ever do one again though!

The hot glue gun is NOT my friend!  I hate those things and guess that's why I've never bought one of the newer, sleeker, smaller ones.  Mine is so old and gunked up with glue and it uses those big fat glue sticks - not the skinny kind you see now.  The glue won't even go through the gun anymore so if I need two hands for the project, I have to bend down and use my teeth to press the glue through.  Not a pretty site at all!!!  I only burned myself once or twice doing all this, so that was a plus.

This flower and card were actually done for two reasons - I wanted to enter the challenge at Marks Finest Papers (to use Ric-Rac) and also for a SCS group I belong to called Stamp Addicts.  We have a  challenge among ourselves ever so often to try a different technique.  The technique this month was to make a flower.  Next time I think I'd just punch out a bunch of flowers and glue them together!  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by.........I won't be around much this weekend, but will check back with everyone on Sunday or Monday.

A Deal of a Stash

This is my second post of the day!  To see the {Pin}spirational Challenge, please scroll down.

Shopping Our Stash starts a brand new challenge today - and our theme for the week is:   BEST DEAL EVER!   Create something using one of your best bargains/had to have/ it was on sale!   Be sure and tell us what you used and use something from your stash!  Head on over to the blog and be inspired by all the DT creations!

My best deal ever - the Bow-Easy!  A couple of years ago, I'd been seeing so much about this handy little tool on the internet.  The directions of Youtube made it look so easy so I figured I'd try!  Got it ordered and then tried to follow the directions on "how to use".  I FINALLY figured it out and it's so easy!  If you've followed my blog for a while you know I use a lot of ribbon/bows on my cards.  I'd be completely lost without this.   I also used a sentiment from SU that I don't think I've ever used, some unknown DP that I've had for a while and was gathering dust, and an Edgelit from SU that I've also had a while and never, ever used.    I embossed the sentiment in Egyptian Gold  and added some red rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by...............and be sure and enter Shopping Our Stash challenge.

What is This

A new challenge starts today at {Pin}inspirational and we have a yummy looking photo for your inspiration.  Be sure and check out the blog for all the inspiration from the DT - and enter your creation for a chance to win a wonderful prize package from our sponsor, Beccy's Place.

Oh, and don't forget, {Pin}spirational Challenge is having a Design Team call right now.  Check out the blog for all the details on that.

When I saw the {Pin}spirational inspiration photo for this week, I was completely stumped on what it was!!  It looked similar to a cupcake (although I've seen more attractive cupcakes before) or a Bundt Cake (but way too small for that).  Ok, hey, maybe it's some type of chocolate candy covered in icing?.........No!  Thanks to all the sweet ladies on the DT, they informed me it was a Figgy Pudding!!!!  Now you gotta remember I live out here in the boonies in Texas - so I can honestly saw I had no clue what they were talking about!  After "googling" Figgy Pudding, I decided it just might be pretty tasty!  Has anyone ever eaten it or made it before?

Anyway, here's the inspiration photo - there's a lot of you do with this inspiration - how about a cupcake, cake, chocolate, Christmas holly, colors......etc....Let your imagination run wild and enter!  Looks rather yummy doesn't it!

I'll be back in a few minutes with my Shopping Our Stash challenge (still thinking about Christmas) - so see you then.....at least I say I will.  Blogger and I aren't getting along too good since the time change and it doesn't seem to want to post my cards as scheduled.  We'll just have to see what happens!

Thanks for stopping by..............

Seeing Stars

A really quick post to say hi and show you a card I made for a couple of challenges.  I used a Sizzix stars die, Square Lattice embossing folder, a sentiment from Close to My Heart, brad, and twine.  The base of the card is done on Confetti White.

I'll enter this in the challenges at CAS(e) This Sketch and CAS-ual Fridays (masculine).

Shooting the Bird

Happy Funny Friday!!!

Dove season ended around here several weeks ago...the hunters get a little wacky during that time and you wake up every morning to the sound of shotguns going off all around you (one of the "nice" things about living in the country)!  This was pretty much a shock to me the first time and you WILL wake up in a hurry!  Anyway, right after we moved out here, Jim decided I'd go dove hunting with him.  The deal is that you shoot them in the air as they're flying by - and this is not an easy thing to do since they're flying at super sonic speed to get away.  After he shot one, he told me to go retrieve it (do I look like a hunting dog or what!!!!) which I did.  I picked it up with two fingers, extended it about as far away from my body as I could, and brought it back to him.  Then he told me I had to "clean" it (not pretty),  but I figure the "retriever" is only required to do so much.  The next year, he bought me a shotgun, told me how to aim at the dove, and shoot.  This was just not going to happen with me but I accidentally shot one and immediately wanted to bury it and say a prayer or two!!!  I'm just NOT a dove hunter at all I don't guess.  One thing they don't have a season on around these parts are buzzards/vultures though.  Thank goodness!!!

Anyway, I was checking blogs the other day and on Leslie's The Crooked Stamper blog she'd made a card using this same stamp and sentiment. I not only loved her card, but also the stamp!  SO, I immediately HAD to have it.  It's from Art Impressions - What's not to love!!!!!

And before you even ask....no, the feather is not from a real bird.  It came in the mail several weeks ago on a dream catcher and they were trying to get you to donate to something and you got the dream catcher free.    I started plucking all the feathers off the thing and Jim thought I'd lost my mind.....he just doesn't "get" all this creative stuff!  LOL!  The clouds were made using stamped off black ink and I added a bit of liquid applique around his neck.  He was stamped and colored, cut out, and then popped up.

Thanks for stopping by............and have a great weekend!
