Unhip Hippie

Now, talk about an OLD hippie - this is it!  The image, from Dr. Digis House of Stamps, is called Duncan Disorderly.  Isn't it a cutie!  He must think he hasn't aged in about 40 years or more - and looks like he's still wearing the same clothes!! He's way past his prime and just doesn't know it yet.

I grew up in the age of the hippies but being from a small town in Texas I was more concerned with looking perky for the next Pep Rally, cheering on the football team, and just generally being Miss Personality plus! About as close as I ever got to even considered being "hip" was when  I wore my hip-hugging bell bottoms.  That was a sight to behold too.......I was so short (still am) so when I'd put them on it looked like someone had stepped on top of my head and just squashed me down!  But, hey, I was COOL looking for sure!

This is a pre-colored image and I got it thinking that'd it be great on saving time and all that - plus their coloring is so much better than what I can do.  I have to tell you though - this is the third card I made!  I just couldn't get anything to look right no matter what I did.  The first one was way too busy for me so I ditched it.  The second one was just wrong!  So, this is number 3 (I'm sounding like Goldilocks again) - CAS and it's done - like it or not.

Update on Bob the Buzzard!!!   Bob has moved on to greener pastures.  I'm so thankful for that since his hanging around was really giving me a creepy feeling.  Not to worry though as things are always popping out here in the boonies!  Today we had a sheep come visit the bird bath!  By the time I could grab my camera though he was scooting his little hiney heading back home - about a half mile from here.  Country living at it's finest!!!

Thanks for stopping by.............and have a great weekend!

Double Dose

It seems to be red, white, and blue week around here!  Every where I've looked there's another challenge for something in those colors.  I'm not even going to attempt to do all those challenges but will enter a couple

But, first of all - I went very CAS in order to focus on this precious little image from Wendy Burns' Etsy Shop!   Be sure and check out her digi shop and note that she'll be adding more soon!!  When you look at her digis, look at each one.  Like with this image you get 2 individual dog images, 1 scene, and one parrot with wording. This is a great deal!!!  She's such a talented lady and know you'll love all her digi images.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Simon Says Stamp Challenge - anything goes.

My second card is ....... yep.......red, white, and blue!  What can I say.  I've seen several cards using this same design out in blog land and thought I'd give it a whirl.  Another very CAS card.  The blue strips were embossed and the red left as is.  The sentiment is from Jibber Jabber, The Alley Way Stamps.  I added the star (die cut), brad, and then the ribbon to finish off the card.  As I said, very CAS but think this will be great for my OWH box!

I'll enter this in the inspiration challenge at The Alley Way Stamps.

Anchors A'Wave

So much for "Anchors Aweigh" when you can go with anchors a' WAVE!  LOL!  Thought I'd jump right in with the nautical fad and make a card using my new stamp set from Paper Smooches.  I also added a new Memory Box anchor die and the DP (also new) from Fancy Pants. That about sums up the card except for the tiny heart I just had to add.

Lately I've been VERY good about purchasing new crafty stuff - and then letting it sit for several weeks before I ever even attempt to use it!  Am I the only one that does this?  I think I need to get a small basket and place all the new things in it and after using it at least twice, move it to my more organized mess.  Sounds like a plan!!!

I'll enter this in the challenges at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets) and Crafting When We Can (Keep it Simple).

Short post here for whatever reason...........

Bob

First of all, let me tell you a little about my card - and then we'll get to Bob!

My brother in law has a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks so this will go to him.  I'm trying to think of something cute, funny, sarcastic, dumb to go on the inside.  Any thoughts out there?????

The stamp is from Art Impression that I colored with Copics and then popped up on a snippet of white that was sprayed with black Glimmer Mist. (Got a little heavy handed on the mist, but oh well.....)  I used some Liquid Applique around his neck and the sentiment is from CTMH - also sprayed with Glimmer Mist.  A couple of snippets of twine were added to the sentiment panel.  One thing about it - it's got a lot of shimmer and shine with that mist!

Now, on to Bob...............When you live out in the boonies like this you see all sorts of wildlife.  We have a lot of buzzards that are continually flying over.  Rambo loves to "chase" them but doubt if he'd know how to act if one actually came close to him.  A couple of days ago I was looking out the kitchen window where the bird feeders and bird baths are...... and.........there was Bob the Buzzard!  Bob has decided to sit on our roof every day -  causing all kinds of racket.  He'll swoop down ever so often and get a drink from the bird bath.  Jim keeps saying we may be old, but we're not dead yet and I have to agree with him.  I'm hoping Bob finds a new roosting spot soon!

I'll enter this in the challenge at Feeling Sketchy (sketch), Art Impressions (masculine), and Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets).

Thanks for stopping by...............and have a great weekend!

Three for Three

This is really unheard of for me, but I have another card!  This makes three cards in three days.  I must be sick or something!  I'm sure it won't last long though so not to worry.

This started out as somewhat of a one layer card - but didn't stay that way - still very simple though.  I stamped some of the Gorgeous Grunge in Gumball Green (lots of G's there) and then stamped the Extreme Guitar over it.  These are from SU.  The sentiment was stamped and then stamped again and popped up.  It's from last month's Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp and is by Kelly Purkey.  I punched a couple of notches in the sides and added the twine.

Since I thought this would make a good card for a teen, I'll enter it in the challenge at Addicted to Clean and Simple (Code Word: Teenager).

Transportation

I can really think of better ways to get around (like maybe an air conditioned vehicle!!) but thought this stamp from Hero Arts was just too cute to not use on a Clean and Simple card.  Oh, and by the way.....in case your wondering - this bike really was a tiny bit before my time - not much, but a little!

The sentiment is from Memories (CTMH) and I used a couple of strips (snippets) of washi tape and a bit of twine.  The filigree brad was also added to give it a little pizzazz!

I'll enter this in the challenge at Simon Says Stamps Challenge (transport).

Short and sweet here today.  Have a few things going on but will try to get by everyone's blog later today or tomorrow.

I Love Puppies

I have a very special card today!  Wendy Burns has recently opened an ETSY shop, has the CUTEST digis, and I was asked to showcase a couple of them.   I have to tell ya' -  they're great!!  My first card is using the one titled I Love Puppies.  It's a well known fact I love puppies - and dogs, and cats, and all other animals, so it was pretty much a gimme as far as which one I'd use first.

Isn't that just a precious image!!!  Love the way the puppy is looking up at the little girl.  I'm pretty sure I followed some sketch for this, but it's beyond me which one it was now.  This reminds me of one of my granddaughters......all decked out in her little leggings and dress....totally girly, girly.  The other granddaughter (same family) truly must think she's a little boy - rough and tumble and way too much energy!  LOL!

Anyway, be sure and stop by  Wendy's ETSY shop for more cute images!

I'll enter this in the ABC Challenge (Pretty in Pink), Creative Corner Challenges (All Girls), and the challenge at Crafty Ribbon (Anything Goes with Ribbon).

I'll be back again soon to show you more of Wendy's images!  Stayed tuned.

Quick Hearts

From what I can tell, all the Stampin' Up-pers out there have gone a little crazy over the Mosaic Madness embossing folder, stamp set, punch, etc.....Well since I'm already three fourths of the way crazy I thought I'd give it a very quick try.  There just wasn't a lot of free time this week so it's a quickie!  This is actually a CASE of a card I saw on Bonnie's blog doing a Christmas type theme.  Everything I used on here except for the ribbon was from SU.  The ribbon has been in my stash forever.

This is really a short post but we're having thunderstorms in the area so I need to shut down the computer.  I really hated to say anything about thunderstorms because I'll probably chase them all away now and we really need the rain bad!

Keep your fingers crossed and I MAY have a Funny Friday next week!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and thanks for stopping by............

Triple Dose of Doxies

How about a triple dose of doxies to brighten everyone's week!

VERY simple cards (but hey, it's a super busy week around here and won't get any better until Wednesday of NEXT week!).  The die for the doxies (rhymes!) is from Memory Box and I used a couple of snippets of DP from wherever....just sitting on my craft table ready to go in the trash!  The sentiments on both cards are from SU Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I added a bit of twine and they were done.  The second card was actually mailed to a blogging buddy (Maria) in April.

I'll enter the first card in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Workshop - using snippets.  I just recently discovered this challenge and think it's going to be so much fun.

Ok, so you're wondering where I came up with TRIPLE in the title of the post......Here goes doxie number three...............

Yep, poor little Rambo!  On Saturday evening, Jim and I noticed that Rambo was limping a little ever so often and just didn't want to play at all.  On Sunday all he wanted to do was sleep - not play or eat much or anything.  Now, this is NOT Rambo at all - I mean he's basically four legs in motion all the time!  We kept looking at his foot and couldn't see a single thing wrong with it and finally figured he either stepped on something and bruised it or some type of bug bit him outside.  Monday rolls around and he's not any better at all so we loaded him up in the car to visit the vet........Nothing serious at all except that one of his toenails had pulled away slightly from the foot.  They did their thing to get it all better and wrapped his foot (to match the tag - LOL)!!  Everything seems almost normal with him again and he's back to four legs in motion and going strong!

Blooming

If you've ever seen a dogwood blossom you know they're usually pink or whitish.  Since blue is my favorite color and this is my card, I figured I could make them any color I wanted!  So, I present you with blue (turquoise) dogwood flowers.

This beautiful stamp is from Impression Obsession that I stamped, colored, then stamped and colored again to pop up on dimensionals.  The background was sponged with Antique Linen.  The card stock I used was Tempting Turquoise and Soft Suede.

Some beige sheer ribbon and bow were added and the card was completed.......UNTIL I noticed I had some type of smudge!  Of course it couldn't have been in a good place - so in order to cover it up I had to place the pearls as such.  Kinda wonky looking, but hey, again, it's my card so guess I can put those little guys any where I wish!

As I said, the stamp is from Impression Obsession and it's called Dogwood 3.  You can find it here.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Impression Obsession (Bloom Where You Are Planted) and the challenge at Loves Rubber Stamps Challenge Blog (Anything Goes).

Deck the Cat

I'd probably feel more like "decking the cat" instead of decking the halls with this little guy!  This is one thing we don't have to worry about at Christmas with Rambo - although, he has been known to leave a "present" or two under the tree.  Sassy, our cat, would be much to lazy to try this little stunt!

So, how about a Christmas card to take everyone into the weekend!!!  YEA!  We're half way to the Christmas holidays so start training the cat now I suppose.

I'll enter this in the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays - banners and flags.

Thanks for stopping by..........and have a great weekend!

Washi-ng

My mini break was good and think I may be taking these more often now.  Maybe it's good to just step away from it all for a couple of days.   Slowly but surely I'm getting that bolt of lightening to hit and get some more mojo-soho.  If I haven't gotten by your blog yet, I will......it's taking me a while to make all the rounds.

Clean and simple is the word on this card.  I know that everyone is making Father's Day cards around this time, but thought I'd do a Happy Birthday one instead.  The mustache stamp is from the Simon Says Stamp card kit and sentiment from Stampabilities.  The tape is some I picked up over the weekend.  I've never used (or owned)  any washi tape before and picked up a couple of rolls this past weekend just to see what all the fuss was about.  I like it, but then again, I like all the cool supplies out there! The white background is embossed with a Texturz plate from SU - a very subtle pattern that's great for masculine cards.

I'll enter this in the Simon Says Stamp challenge - anything masculine/Father's Day.
