Think Happy, Be Happy

Quick card and a quick post here.......I'm in the process of re-organizing and cleaning my craft space (not a pretty site!).

I used a stamp from MFT and paper pieced her little dress, the cloud die is from Memory Box (I think).

I used this sketch from Retro Sketches and will enter it in their challenge and also the challenge over at Cuttlebug Mania (Clean and Simple - and yep, I used my little "bug" to die cut the clouds)

CASE-ing a Card

After all the company we had recently I feel that my brain is completely fried!  It was sorta like the Griswold's Christmas Vacation around here - without it even being Christmas!  Of course it's always wonderful to see family, friends, and grand children  - but for 10 days running it starts to get just a wee bit old.

Some of Jim's family came in Thursday - along with a dog.....not good!  He and Rambo did not get along at all.  They went home on Monday (FINALLY) and the only thing left behind were fleas!!!  Goodness Gracious - I hate those little critters and poor Rambo had no idea what hit him.  Rambo's on a monthly flea and Heart Guard medication so he really couldn't figure out what those bugs were on his handsome little body.  The pills kill them pretty quick so I wasn't overly concerned  but then I got to thinking about the inside of the house (like rugs/carpets, etc) and yard.  So not only were we spraying the house and yard on Monday - but also cleaning, washing, and all that since my daughter and her two girls were getting here on Tuesday.  They finally left on Saturday.  I loved seeing all of them but it was also one of those times where they're driving off and you're standing on the front porch waving - and going HOORAY!!!!!!

Anyway, I had no time to even think about a card for the last 10 days and finally decided to CASE a card I saw on Pinterest and get it up this morning so y'all wouldn't think I'd completely flown the coop.  One of the grands loves to color and she has a birthday coming up next month...........so think she'll like this.

I'm slowly but surely getting around to everyone's blog - so don't give up on me yet!

NOT a 10 Minute Card

I love watching the videos of ladies making those "10 minute cards"!  Hummmmp!  If I even attempted something like that I'd be so busy watching the timer that I'd mess everything up for sure!!  I didn't have to worry about a timer on this one though because it was NOT a 10 minute card in any way, shape, or form!

I've never done one of the Art Impression Front and Back cards - so first of all, I had no idea what I was doing!  I don't usually have any idea what I'm doing half the time anyway, but this was really a kicker.  I'm not even going to embarrass myself and tell 'ya how many times I had to start over and re-do - and all that!  Rest assured I did NOT complete this baby in 10 minutes!!!!  (Maybe closer to like 10 HOURS!)  Anyway........

I'm probably the world's worst about making a card, snapping a photo of it, posting it - and then seeing all kinds of things I SHOULD have done!  I really started to begin all over on this due to some of those things and then my brain jump started and asked if I'd completely lost my mind or what!!!!!!!!  So, I left it as is.....however, I SHOULD have colored the fence lighter so the little dog would show up better/SHOULD have done something different on the grass......looks like it's past due on a mowing job/SHOULD have added some flowers or a tree or something.......and on and on and on.........BUT, the fact of the matter is that it's done and I learned a lot!

I'm giving this card to ME!  I'm going to need that "hang in there" sign from now until next Saturday.  We have company a'coming......the first wave hit yesterday......and the second wave hits today.  They'll all be staying until Monday.  Then on Tuesday, the third wave hits and they won't leave until Saturday!!!!!  Not to worry though as I've already ordered myself a keg of beer to be delivered Saturday evening!  LOL!  Hopefully I can survive all the cooking, cleaning, and entertaining I'm going to have to do!   I won't be around at all during this time but will be back maybe on Sunday or Monday next week.  I figure about the only thing I'll be able to do is to check my e-mail after I get everyone bedded down at night.

Thanks for stopping by.........

Holey Moccasins

Of course with a title like this I'm sure you're probably wondering where I'm coming up with "holey moccasins".   I was skimming through all the challenges posted this month and loved the sketch from Sketch Saturday.  I started gathering up all my stuff with some type of an idea in my head and got the card completed but that little wooden "thank you" really needed some twine or something coming out of the hole.  Jim walked in about that time and asked what I was doing.........

I'll normally just say "nothing" since I don't want to go into the whole explanation of stuff - you know, like what color twine do I need to use, what kind of knot, etc......(he can give some weird answers sometimes!)  Anyway, he had his old moccasins in his hand and I asked what he was doing with those.  He said he was chunking them since they had holes in the soles!  (Eye roll here!)  I spied the laces and said I HAD to have those NOW!!!  I'm not sure but I think that was when he gave ME the eye roll!   ..........Jim's shoe laces are in the hole now (and they don't smell like the shoes thank goodness)!!  Nothing like a little recycling!

All the supplies I used on this card are from the SSS June Kit of the Month.  I never have a thank you card for a guy - and yes, they need a "thank you" ever so often too!

I'll enter this in the challenge at Sketch Saturday.

Throwing Down Some Colors

How about this bright little owl!!!  Just kinda gives you a happy feeling all over, right!

Y'all know I don't very often (if ever) enter color challenges - mainly because I seem to go into some sort of a panic mode at the mere thought of that!   Another one of those things that make my palms get all sweaty, start feeling dizzy, and begin to hyperventilate.  Well, it's high time I tried to overcome some of my fear and when I saw the challenge at Color Throwdown and loved all the bright and fun colors, I decided to give it a go.

The owl and sentiment are from Paper Smooches and I've colored him with Copics.  I embossed the Crumb Cake panel with that woodsy looking embossing folder from SU and all the paper (DP and solid) is from SU.

SHORT NOTE:   I've added a couple of things to my side bar in case you're interested.  The first is Bloglovin that everyone seems to be jumping on - and the second is to "subscribe by e-mail".  I'm hoping these little babies work since I'm not a computer whiz and really have no clue what I'm doing half the time!  (Special thanks to Connie for all my silly questions regarding this!).  Anyway, give one or the other a try if that's how you follow blogs.

Thanks for stopping by.........and hope you're having a great weekend.

Think Big

Now don't get me wrong, I love my little Rambo - however, this precious pup is just so cute I'm thinking I need him so Rambo will have a playmate!  The stamps are from The Alley Way Stamps and I love the size of that dog bowl compared to the tiny chihuahua.  Even if he is little he can always think BIG!

The dog and bowl are from The Gang set and the sentiment and polka dot lines from Jibber Jabber.  I colored the images with watercolors, cut them out, and then  they were popped up on foam tape.  I also sponged in some sky behind the image to pick up another one of the colors from the inspiration photo.  I'll enter this in challenge number 32 at TAWS (The Alley Way Stamps).

I'll also enter this in the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays ( polka dots).

Bright and Colorful

This doesn't look very bright in the photo but it really is a pretty good eye-opener as far as brightness goes.  The problem was that I finally finished this CAS card after about 2 hours (yes, I know, I'm SLOW) and by the time I could get outside to snap a pic, it was already 8:00 p.m. last night!!  I guess I should have waited until this morning but then I've never been known for my patience.  I figured, hey, I got it finished finally so by George I'm going to take a picture of it!

I used the Daisy die from SU and the "thanks" from Memory Box.  Never realized how small that little "thanks" was since I'd never used it before!  The snippets of DP and card stock are from my scrap box.  And yes.........in case you haven't already noticed, I fired up my sewing machine and attempted to stitch a straight line - thank goodness most of that "straight" line is covered up by the flower!

Today is going to be my day to craft!  I'm so tired of life getting in the way of all my fun....so told Jim I was putting on my grubs (as I do anyway on most days) and hole up in my little room.  He has instructions to not require me to do anything (ANYTHING) and not bug me!  It's going to be very interesting to see how the day pans out. LOL!

Ribbit, Ribbit

I was rummaging around in my crafting area yesterday looking for something other than this.  A couple of croaks later and this is what you get!  I just love the expressions on these little guys faces.  The stamp is from Penny Black.  I used some white watercolor paper so I could use the Intense pencils and just now notice that paper isn't as white as the card base!  It's suppose to be white - um.....maybe I've just had it too long..........

Not much else to say about this one but I used a sketch from Retro Sketches and will enter it in their challenge.  This pretty much follows the sketch to a tee.  It's just too hot to think outside the box right now.

New Toy

New toys!!!!!!  I always laugh at Jim whenever he gets a new tool or something - you know....boys and their toys.  Well, I just purchased a 24 count set of the Derwent Intense pencils and now I know what he feels like!

I've really been on a "more white space CAS roll" around here and decided it was high time to throw in a couple of layers and (gasp) patterned paper.  I colored the Sara Kay image with the pencils.  It's not perfect by any means but I AM having fun using them.  Just have a whole bunch of practicing to do now. I really like that they're a little brighter than the Prisma pencils and the fact they're less expensive than Copics.

This will be an anniversary card for Jim's sister and brother in law - um.....I believe it's number 53 for them!  Anyway......I always - and I mean ALWAYS - give them a funny, humorous, crazy type card so this one will be a little different.  Surely I'm not getting sweet or something!!!!!!!!!

Just Beach-y

This exactly where I wish I was today!  Since we don't have a beach close by I guess I can always dream a little.  Just the thought of that sand squishing through my toes, wind in my hair, waves crashing.......feeling sticky all over!   Yikes!!!!  Am I REALLY wishing I was at the beach!  I actually love going to the beach but here in Texas with high humidity, you have to take the good with the bad and just deal with all the stickiness.
This little gal doesn't seem to mind at all though - that's one thing nice about being young....things like that don't bother you!

This is a digi image from Whimsey Doodles......cute, right!  I'm trying to practice on coloring hair and just realized I need a lot more practice now.  I got it a little dark.  She looks like she just came from a dye job at the local beauty salon!   The "sand" is some DP that I got last year and I think it's from Paper Studio.  The clouds.......um........first I didn't add any - then added three - then took away one and ended up with two.  I'm still not sure about how many (if any) clouds needed to be there.  They actually look pretty stupid perched up there in the middle of nowhere.

Whether you hit the beach or not, hope you have a great weekend!

Happy 4th Of July

Happy 4th of July.   Whether you celebrate or not, hope you have a great day!

This is an old SU stamp that I stamped up with markers after masking off the "fireworks" (by JRL Designs) in the background.  The fireworks were stamped in Bashful Blue and then I went over some of them with a gold glitter pen.  The little heart on the flag was popped up with dimensionals.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Simon Says Stamps Challenge (Patriotic).

Stars

I think the three cards I posted last week were all in the red, white, and blue combination.....now you get another one!  I'm really just trying to use up all the scraps that are on my desk so you may even see another one or two this week - and then again, maybe not!  But hey, it's July the 4th week around here so red, white, and blue just seem to be the "in" colors.

This is super simple using the star die from SU and a sentiment from Hero Arts.  Not much else to say about it except it's going in the OWH box.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets) and QKR Stampede (anything goes).
