Watch Where You Splash!

Before you take a big swan dive into the water this summer, make sure it's not shark infested!  I think this little guy thought about that a bit late though.

This little cutie is from Penny Black and the shark-like fish are from Lawn Fawn.  The waves were created using the negative cut from a scallop die - and the wavy like paper from some of my scraps.  The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp kit.  Just a summertime card to send to the grands to put a smile on their face.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Addicted to CAS (SPLASH).

Getting Nautical

Nothing says summer without a little red, white, and blue.  Toss in something nautical - and BLAM! -  it's summertime!

The stamps are from Paper Smooches.  The anchor was embossed in gold and the sentiment in white.  Twine from Lawn Fawn added and a tiny die cut heart.

I'll enter this in the Nautical challenge at CASology and the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge (anything goes).

Udderly Pink and the Real Thing

Things are moooooo-ving right along down this way in Texas.  The cows are getting a good feeding from all the green grass these days due to the rain we've had.  They're happy and we're happy for them.

YeeHaw and all that good stuff - but celebrating cows is something we never do......until now!  Yep, QKR has a challenge and it's all about the cows.  What could be cuter than putting a cow on a card to brighten someone's day - and especially one that looks this happy!  HA!   The image and sentiment are from QKR.  The rest of the sentiment says "milk it for all it's worth" and that's on the inside of the card.  Cute, right!   I got it all colored and wanted to add a charm........Yikes!

Going back for a minute.......a long while back I posted a card with a cow on it (HERE).   The problem came down to Jim not being able to tell if it was a pig or a cow!  So, I'm putting this card together and studying the charm (one that was sent to me by a VERY sweet blogging buddy) and trying to make sure it was truly a cow.   Along comes Jim.....He looks at it and says it looks like a DUCK to him!  Geeze!!!!   Where did I find this guy anyway!!!

And speaking of cows...........These guys came visit the other day.  They came up to the backyard fence and Rambo decided enough was enough and went wild - they were just too close for comfort so he chased them out in the field.  Yes, Jim......these are cows!

I'll enter this in the challenge at QKR (cows) and also will take Ms. Elsie here to Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets).

Thanks for stopping by.........and keep smiling!

Staying Cool

Summer is here and down this way in Texas we'll do just about whatever we can to stay cool.  Sitting under a palm tree sounds so inviting.

I used an image from From The Heart Stamps called Tropical Chicks.   Love those Birdbrains!  I sponged in a little sky and some sand and then paired it with some sunny yellow patterned paper from Recollections. The sentiment, from My Favorite Things, was added and then a punched flower with an enamel dot.  (I keep waiting for the coconut to fall and conk him on the head)!

I'll enter this in the challenge at From the Heart Stamps (sketch).

Monsters and a Bat

Just a fun little card featuring some monsters and a bat today.  Monsters can be any color they want to be but bats just have to be black  as far as I'm concerned.  Creepy little guys that they are!

I used stamps from a Lawn Fawn set called Monster Mash along with a die from Pretty Pink Posh.  Added some fun polka dot patterned paper and a little wooden heart.

I'd like to enter this in the sketch challenge at The Crooked Stamper along with Little Tangles. - and also at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets).

Free on the Plains

This is not your typical Father's Day card at all, but think Jim will like it.  Usually I give him something silly but since he likes stories of cowboys and Indians I thought this would be a better fit this year.

I used a couple of stamps from the Bold and Free set - Mark's Finest Papers.   The feather was stamped on Canson watercolor paper and then colored with the Zig Clean Color Brush markers - mixing some blues and greens.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Speedy Fox and Friends (use only the corner).

Butterfly Thanks

After all the rain we had last month, the flowers are blooming and the butterflies are out in full force.  I don't think I've ever seen a solid lavender one before but I'm sure they exist somewhere.

I used an image from Deedee's Digi's called Fluttering By.  This set of stamps comes with a couple of images and some wonderful sentiments.  It also comes in the outline version - like I used here - and also in the pre-colored version.  I colored this with Copics, framed it out with several dies, and then mounted it against some patterned paper that I found in my stash.  The sentiment is also from Deedee's Digis but from a different set of images.

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:  Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets), Brown Sugar (in the garden), and Scribbles and Scraps (anything goes).

Pickles is Waving Hello

A really quick "git 'er done" card today featuring Pickles.  You can find this darling image at From the Heart stamps.   If you played along in their Progressive Challenge last month you received him for free this month.  If you didn't play along and still love him to pieces like I do, you can find him in their shop.

He's a cute little hedgie for sure and I wish I had one for a pet!  I colored him with Copics and then added some Wink of Stella to the butterflies and flowers.  A bit of Glossy Accents was added to his glasses.  The banners are some scraps that I had sitting on my desk and then finished off the card with the twine bow.

Thanks for stopping by..........and be sure and check out Pickles at From the Heart Stamps!

Fish Tag

I tagged a fish today for the current Lawnscaping Challenge (Critters).  I love the way this little guy looks like he's smiling and I think he's just enjoying a beautiful day - and glad no one has caught him!

I used two Lawn Fawn sets of stamps:  Critters in the Arctic for the fish and Life is Good for the waves and sentiment.   He's colored with gray, blue, and pink Copics and popped up in front of some stenciling done with a Tim Holtz stencil.  The waves were stamped and a piece of vellum added - along with the sequins, clouds, and twine.  Clear Wink of Stella was added to the fish to give him a little shine.  Just a fun card to brighten someones day.

Since I used snippets on this card I'd also like to enter it at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Party Bird

Just when you think you have it all together you find you need another birthday card for a quirky male friend!   These stamps of Crazy Birds from Tim Holtz fit the bill for being quirky too!   With that green around his head he almost looks like it should be a get well card and not a birthday card though -  like maybe he's already partied a little too much.

This will be my third and last entry for the Watercolor Blog Hop sponsored by Pretty Pink Posh.   Once again I used the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and water on some Canson watercolor paper.  I added a SU hat and sentiment along with a thin strip of some patterned paper.

Early or Late?

The jury is still out on this one as to whether I like it or not.  AND.....I'm either a little late for Easter or really, really early!  At least I'll have it done for next year though.

I used some of my grade school watercolors (sorta like the ones we used way back when) to do a color wash behind the image and then colored the image with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and water.  I'm thinking the colors on the image are a little too intense for the background wash but then again, maybe not.  It is what it is though.  The image is from Mark's Finest Papers and a tiny butterfly and sequin were added.

I'll also take this card over to the Watercolor Blog Hop that's being sponsored by Pretty Pink Posh.

Blue Flowers

Now I realize this may not look like much, but you need to keep in mind that I DO NOT do watercoloring! But then again......I guess I did!  There's also a lot of white space on here - which I do like but it doesn't always like me.   Working with white is like wearing a pair of white pants!  I mean, come on.....you put on a pair of white pants and within 30 minutes they're smudged somewhere.  I usually just hope it's where I can see it and not in the rear end after sitting down in something I shouldn't have!

Anyway......I was scooting through Wally World the other day and found some Canson watercolor paper!  Grabbed the paper and got so excited since they actually had something like that, I paid for it and then high tailed it out of the store - without getting what I originally went in there for.   I sat down to do my thing with the card and of course immediately got a smudge on it.  Uck!  Started over......I used a stamp from Mark's Finest Papers and then colored it using some new Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.  I'm not real good controlling how much water to use but think this one turned out pretty good with the shading.  I really like the bright colors with those markers.  Finishing it up, I stamped a simple 'thank you' sentiment and added the pearls.

I'll enter this in the Watercolor Blog Hop hosted by Pretty Pink Posh.

Feline Better?

I never seem to have a get well card when I need one and usually by the time I can get one made the person is already well again!  Now's a good time for me to stock up on those cards since I have this cute set of stamps to make some with.

I used one of the stamps from the Newton's Sick Days set at Newton's Nook.   I didn't have a Copic or colored pencil in the mint color but did have some ink so used my blender pen to pick up the color in the ink pad to use on Newton's bowl.  My polka dot piece of coral paper looks a little too pink but that's how the camera picked it up in the photograph.  I added a little Glossy Accents to the pill bottle and some Wink of Stella on the bowl.  The embossing was done with a Sizzix embossing folder.

I'll enter this in the color challenge at Newton's Nook

Another Daniel the Duck

You're getting a double whammy this morning!  This is for Craft Your Passion Challenges and also it's a new start of the progressive challenge at Deedee's Digi'sCraft Your Passion Challenges - who has an anything goes challenge beginning today is being sponsored by Deedee's Digi's!  Be sure and check out their challenge and enter for your chance to win some of the cute digi's from Deedee's.

I'm using the brand new Diver Daniel from Deedee's today - and he will be yours for free if you played along in last months challenge!  If you didn't play last month and still want this cute set of images (or any of the other images in the shop) you can find him in the store at Deedee's Digi's.  This is a wonderful set of images and they come in the colored or line version along so many darling sentiments.

I'll say right now......I love Daniel!  I used one of the pre-colored images for my shaker card today.  Inside the shaker part I added a little sun, crab with googly eyes, sequins, and some paper that looks like a sandy beach.  The sentiment is also part of the set of images.  I'm not very good at these shaker things but I try and think it will be a cute card to send to the granddaughters since school is out and summer is here.  Now that I look at my card I'm really wishing I'd embossed all that white space - but didn't.  It is what it is.

That's it for today and hope everyone has a great week.  Head on over to Craft Your Passion Challenges and enter for a chance to win some of Deedee's Digis - and then head to Deedee's Digi's to see all the great images there!
