Lots of Pink

If you don't like pink, you probably should have closed your eyes!

This is for Number 4 granddaughter (the youngest) who hopefully still likes pink.  They seem to change their favorite colors with the weather you know.  Even if she doesn't like pink, I imagine she'll like the "green" that's going inside.

And speaking of weather..........our high on Tuesday was 56 degrees - and the high on Thursday is going to be 90 degrees!  What in the world!  (That's your friendly weather report for the day)!

I used some patterned paper from Doodlebug, stitched circle from Lil Inkers, and frame die from Pretty Pink Posh.  To take center stage though is the Birthday Bash stamp set from Newton's Nook.

I'll enter this in the Inky Paws Challenge at Newton's Nook (sketch).

It's a Deer!

Just a quick birthday card for one of the young guys in the family.  The stamp set used is from Newton's Nook.  This is probably the shortest post on record!  All is well.............
I sincerely apologize for not getting by anyone's blog to comment much.  I'm trying to do better but it's just not working out too much.  Will keep trying though.

Wobbler Gobbler

A little bit of a wobbler gobbler - or maybe it's a gobbler wobbler.  However you want to look at it, this cute little guy from Art Impressions really is a gobbler and yes, he wobbles too!  I absolutely love this set of stamps - even though it is a little early for T-Day.   I used some of the wobbly things from AI.  The small ones fit it perfect and the larger one fits the larger turkey in the set of stamps. I used some Lawn Fawn paper, wood grain card stock, twine, and wooden embellishments - that's about it.

I'd like to enter in the Jiggle a Little challenge at Art Impressions and also in Darnell's challenge to use never before used stuff., and 2 Crazy Critter Challenge.

Things are still wobbling and jiggling along  here as always.

Thanks for stopping by.................

Simple Card......The Cat That Wasn't.....Oh NUTS!

A peek of a few things going on in my life right now.  First off is a very simple card.  I used some Oxide ink, a die, sequins, that Smoochy spray stuff, and a little masking off the rectangle.  What can I say over than super simple.  The happy birthday sentiment is on the inside.

Next up on the agenda.........This is Pepper and she's the cat (kitten) that almost was.  Recently a neighbor moved and left this poor little girl behind.  She was so tiny and nothing but skin and bones so of course I had to rescue her and get her fattened up a bit.  Such a sweet little kitty!  The problem was that Jim and Rambo didn't feel we needed another female in the house (since they do think they rule!) so she's residing with my brother now.  Rambo did not appreciate the competition at all around here!

And speaking of Rambo......We have to end this post with the king of the house.  Yes, he's wearing the cone of shame.  About the only explanation is that he's not as "nutty" as he used to be!!!  For the last 10 days he's been a very unhappy little guy but the cone is gone now and he's back to his furry self  ----- just minus a little bit that he didn't need anyway!

The Lizards Aren't Leaping

It's been so hot in Texas this year even the lizards are refusing to leap!  They mainly just stare at you, ask what the heck is going on, and then go back to sleep.  I don't blame them at all and usually want to do the same thing.

It's been a while I know.  In the meantime I discovered Instagram.  Talk about a babe in the woods....that's me!  My number one son (he's actually the only son) got it set up for me and then went back home!  Grrrrrr.........Slowly but surely I did figure out a few things on my own - sorta.  If you're on Instagram you can find me here or just do a search on jimlynn01 when you get on Instagram.   It's quick and easy and a real time saver for me right now.

Things are rocking along here as always I suppose.  Could be worse and could be better so we'll just go with the flow of things right now.  It really has been hot here though - topped out at 107 the other day and I didn't want to walk outside for fear of melting (as if that'd ever happen).  Even Rambo rolled his eyes at me when I told him he needed to go outside for his usual business.

The above birthday card used a stamp set from Pretty Cute Stamps.  I added a couple pieces of pattern paper and sequins.   Done deal.

Edited: I completed forgot about entering this in the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge so am doing it right now.  Fun challenge!

Thanks for stopping by and I'll get by your blog when I can.

Don't Drop Your Drawers!

This will be going to my crazy friend that was recently in an auto accident and is now having to use a walker for a while.  I'm telling ya' it looks exactly like her too!  Hair - short and gray.  Nightie - yellow her favorite color and she has a blue robe.  Boobs......yes, they're sagging!  Shoes - she always wears those Ugg bootie thingy-s.  Panties (drawers, bloomers, undies)...whatever you prefer to call them......

Ah, the panties.........several years ago I met her at lunch and we went walking into the local Dairy Queen.  You stand up at the counter to order and of course all the tables in there face the counter.  We were about half way through ordering and I looked down and yep..........she'd dropped her drawers!!!!   Her panties had fallen all the way down past her knees.  Seriously!  I'm one of those that always tries to find humor in situations but I completely lost it on this one.  I laughed so hard I was crying.  Everyone in there looked over to see what I was laughing about - right as she was trying to pull them back up.  That just made me laugh even harder!!  We still laugh about it to this day so I know she'll get a kick out of the card.

The image is from Polkadoodles, patterned paper and sentiment from SU, and the flowers from a die.

Changes..........also have a few changes I'm going to add here.  I'm finding it almost impossible to do all the commenting, make a card, take care of Jim, do everything else I need to do around here, and have any free time for myself.....plus, I'm making myself miserable even trying!   So, I'm not going to be commenting or posting as much in the future and I hope you understand.  Hopefully this will leave me a little extra time for other things.

Thanks for stopping by.........and keep smiling!

Guesting for the Critters!

Critters, critters, everywhere!  I'm so excited to be the Guest Designer over at a new challenge this month called 2 Crafty Critter Crazies!     WhooHoo!!!!!  We all love the little critters and make cards using them - so come on over and join the fun and enter the challenge.

The challenge is always Anything Goes as long as you feature some type of critter.  Yep, that's all it takes....critters!  This month our sponsor is a store I actually wasn't familiar with but I am now and they have so many wonderful images.  It's called Fabrika Fantasy.  Check it out! You'll be amazed!

Now, on to the card..........This is a Chipmunk!  I've never seen one in this part of Texas but am sure we have them somewhere.  Pretty fascinating little guys that remind me of a baby squirrel.  This one is just happy that springtime weather has finally arrived (although down his way, we're hot enough for summer now) and wants everyone to be happy.   I'm not going to bore you with all the details on what and how I did whatever, but will tell you some of the supplies I used for this.  The main image is pre-colored from Fabrika Fantasy and I added some birds from Lawn Fawn and Newtons Nook, a cloud die with embossing added, distress inks, a frame die from Mama Elephant, and a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

I do hope you'll check out 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge and enter your card.

Christmas Mice

Once again I'm here with a Christmas card.  I'm trying so hard to do at least one a month for now and having the Rudolph Days Challenge seems to help me do just that.

I'm also back with another Penny Black stamp.  I just love all the stamps in that set and will be using each one of them I'm sure.  AND, to top it all off, I colored this with the Prisma's!  I'm not great using those pencils but keep on trying.  There's must be some kind of  trick to the shading that I haven't mastered yet - and may never.  It actually looks pretty good on this one though.   I added a small pine tree, some patterned paper, hillside borders die cuts, sequins, snowy looking embossing folder, and ribbon.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I'm really under the wire on entering this in the challenge there.    I actually thought there was at least one more day in this month.  Time flies!

Live the Life

Artsy, fartsy - I'm not!  I probably have a lot more fartsy in me than the artsy, but still had to give it a shot on this card.  I think probably to have it look right in that category I would have had to add a lot more stuff to this - but it is what it is!

I recently got some of the distress oxide inks and thought I'd see what it'd do on glossy paper.  Other people may be able to swing that but not me at all!  They do show up a lot brighter though on glossy paper but just don't blend as great for me on that.  On regular card stock they blend like butter!  Anyway, after smearing a bunch of different colors on this I used a stencil and made the blue dots.  Lastly, I stamped an older Tim Holtz image.  The sentiment looks a little whoppy-jawed (crooked) but it really isn't.  Oh well...............

Thanks for stopping by..............and have a great weekend!

Woof Woof, Go Graduate

One of Jim's relatives will be graduating next week with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and  she's an amazing young (but really not that young) lady!  Lots of years went by and she finally buckled down and did it and we're so proud of her.  (Rambo is super proud of her too - as long as he doesn't have to go visit her with some ailment!!)  It's hard when you work full time, go to college, and try and have any kind of life.

I thought the Tim Holtz crazy dog and the graduation cap accessories were just the thing to use on a congrats card for her.  Other supplies used are You Matter stamp set from SSS, Birthday Bits from SSS,, Lil Inker die frame, googly eyes rhinestone, Delicata gold ink, and foiled card stock.

I'll enter this in the challenge at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies (to use a critter on your project).  It's a new challenge and so much fun!

Sunup To Sundown

I have to do so many guy birthday cards during the year and think this stamp from Crackerbox Palace is always a good choice.  Very CAS with some distress inks for the background and layers upon layers of the frame work.  I decided in order to give it a little dimension I'd layer three of each of the frames on top of each other.  So, lots of snippets on here and lots of grinding of the Cuttlebug.  Twine added, happy birthday on the inside, and it's a done deal!

Because of all the snippets of the frame I'll enter this in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Workshop and the challenge at Double D Challenge - to create with a silhouette.

A Little Smooching

Believe it or not, I really do attempt to do different techniques from time to time.
I added some distress inks on the craft mat, added water, and then smooched (at least I think that's what it's called) the colors on the die.  Added the die to some black textured card stock, a vellum sentiment, and the pearls.

From Beady to Blob

Don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but Santa actually resides in Miami and not at the North Pole like you've thought for many years.  It's true!   I mean, if several of the pro basketball players can believe that the world is flat, I can surely  believe that Santa lives in Florida!  Why not?  (That's probably the reason Santa likes going down the chimney's too - I'm sure he doesn't see too many of those in Miami)!

So anyway.......we go from beady to blob!  You know how all those cute little stamps from Penny Black have the beady eyes - well, this cute cat from there had them too.  I was scooting along pretty good doing a little bit of coloring on him and decided to sorta dot the eyes a bit with the Copic.  Really BAD idea!  All of a sudden the ink came flowing out of the Copic!  Yikes!  All that was there was a huge blob.  I really hated to toss the card since I'd already masked it off and did the clouds and "sand", so I just gave him sunglasses - he DOES live in Miami, after all.  The little crab from Lawn Fawn just had to be added too.  (Looks like it's already been cooked - or has a terrible sunburn).

The first challenge where I want to enter this is over at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies!  It's a brand new challenge that Connie has started.  So much fun - and all you have to do is use a critter.  Looks like I have two of them - the cat and crab!

The next challenge is from Darnell - April Fool's Boo-Boo.  Even though it was no fault of my own for a change, I did have the big boo-boo and just used that to give him sunglasses.  I've never used this Penny Black cat before so it qualifies for the NBUS.

Getting Younger

No matter how old I get, there's still a few (not many, I know) older than me!!  I think that's why I love this sentiment from Taylored Expressions.  Since I have one of those milestone birthdays coming up in the near future (sigh), I figure I'd better use this sentiment every chance I get.

I used an old stamp from Art Impressions and I swear, every time I use it I laugh a little more.  Think it goes great with the fun sentiment too. Her skirt is paper pieced and then I added some squares - for what reason I have no idea, but they're there.  Maybe little presents?

Since I used snippets on this card I'd like to enter it in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.  I haven't been over there in a while and once again, should be ashamed of myself.

Christmas Quickie

Seems like here lately all I have time to do is make a quickie card.  Hope to get better soon.....but in the meantime, I made a Christmas card - and early too!

The patterned paper is from Stampin' Up, rectangle die from Pretty Pink Posh, sentiment from Hero Arts, and image from Penny Black.  Whew!  That sums it all up in a nutshell!

The reason I wanted to make a Christmas card is so I could enter it in Rudolph's Day Challenge.  Shame on me for not getting one over there every month......and I really am going to try to do better.
I have several stamps (like this one) that I bought for Christmas this past year and still haven't used.  Good goal to set for the year now........use what I already have and get some Christmas cards completed!

Spring Birdhouse

Another clean and simple card.    I struggle with anything to do with watercolors.  I keep trying though and guess that's half the battle.

This is one of those cards where I look at it and then think "I should have done this, I should have done that".  I do that with just about every card I make though so guess it's ok.     This is a celebration of springtime weather and that's always good no matter what I should have/could have done.

Stamp from Art  Impressions, patterned paper and oval die from My Favorite Things, and birthday sentiment (on Vellum) from Simon Says Stamp.

I'll enter this in the Art Impressions Challenge - Spring-y cards

Puppy Power

Ah......the power of a puppy!  Don't you just love all of them!  I love puppies - then they grow up and I still love them.  They get old - and yes, I still love them....... and maybe even a little more at that time since I think they really need all the love they can get at that stage of their life.

As you can already tell, this pup from Paper Smooches is happy!  Maybe because it's Friday - or maybe it's because it was National Puppy Day yesterday!    The banner die is from Mama Elephant and sentiment from Stampin' Up.  You notice I didn't say where the circle dies are from and that's only because laziness kicked in and I don't want to get up and look to see.

Anyway, I'd like to enter this in the challenge at Sending Paw Prints (print - and thank you).

Thanks for stopping by.........and have a great weekend.

Melting Away

Melting away is exactly what we'll be doing here in Texas in a couple of months.  It's already feeling like summer now so it's really a little scary to think what's going to happen in July and August!

I used a sun die from Lil Inker, a stitched rectangle die from My Favorite Things, and a sentiment from Newton's Nook.  A tiny little die cut heart was added to the middle of the sun.

I'll enter this in the challenge at CASology (code word: melt)

Hope this card brightens your day!

Birthday Bouquet

I think I've come pretty close to losing my mind completely now - and y'all probably think I have too.  I mean, what is this anyway..........TWO flower cards in a row!  Yikes!  Unheard of, right!  Not to worry though as I'm sure I'll be back to my old self before you know it - or even want it.

I pulled out his stamp the other day as I saw someone else use it and was reminded that I had that same one - and love it.  Got it all colored up and whacked out with the scissors and then was at a loss.  Of course!  Finally saw the challenge at CAS(e) This Sketch and knew that would work (so I'll enter this in their sketch challenge).  I think I placed the bouquet a little too high so added some sequins thinking  maybe it'd appear to "bring it down" some.  The only way to "bring it down" though was by moving it down..........

Anyway..........thanks for stopping by............

So Many Animals

I know you're probably getting tired of all cards I post with animals on them.......Such is life!  And guess what - I have two more! Let me know if you start getting too bored with them though.  Doesn't mean I'll quit doing them,  but hey, at least I'll know.

On the first card I used a stamp from Tim Holtz, some Kraft paper, and heart embossing folder.  The sentiment (on both) was from Simon Says Stamp.  Of course I embossed the hearts on the wrong side of the oval but it wouldn't have been normal for me to get it right.

The second card uses a stamp from My Favorite Things (see, I told you you'd be seeing that cat again soon), an old background stamp on the oval, and that's pretty much it.

These two clean and simple cards along with a few more will be going to Sending Paw Prints.  Check out the blog and you'll love what Karen is doing for all the hard working people with rescue organizations.

Number 76

Number 76..........Last year my daughter was named principal of one of the grade schools in Texas and as an incentive to students to not only read but to be kind to others she started a goodie box in her office.  When one of the students either does something nice for another student in the halls or in class, they're allowed to go to the office and select a pencil or bookmark from the goodie box.  I've made 75 bookmarks for her since September - almost all of them different - and for boys and girls 1st through 5th grades.  The bookmarks are flying out of the box faster than I can make them which is wonderful, however I'm running out of ideas fast now!  I'm so thankful the kids love them and I think it encourages them to read too.

I used Newton Dreams of Paris and Delightful Doxies from Newton's Nook.  Coloring with Copics, sponging, and lots of Wink of Stella.

I'll enter this in the Inky Paws Challenge at Newton's Nook (color challenge) and the challenge over at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets).

Purr-Fect Friend

As soon as I saw this new release stamp set from My Favorite Things I knew it was one of those "gotta have this NOW" sets.......so into the cart it went.  I've already made a couple more cards using it - all different - so I'm sure you'll see more again soon.
I colored it with Prisma Pencils, sponged some clouds, and the rest is what it is.

Hope you're having Purr-fect day for this Purr-fect kitty!

Diddly Squat

Earlier this week I was let out of the joint.   I didn't even have to post bail or anything........although I'm sure the "bail" will come later in the form of a bill.  Ugh!   Yep, I graduated from physical therapy!  That first time I went, I got home and thought I'd died.  The next day when I woke up I was pretty sure I had!   As the weeks and sessions went by though I actually started improving and was cut loose from it all on Monday.   I still have to do them at home of course, but I'm finally "free"!

Exercise!  Yes, that ugly word that no one wants to hear!  Stretches, leg lifts, bicycle riding,  tummy suck-in's (I'm sure there's a better name for that one), and on and on.  They started putting two pound weights on my legs about mid way through the past month and it was a little harder but I did it.  All is great.  They did that for several sessions and then the guy said he was going to add a little more weight.  Go for it - I'm fit as a fiddle now.  Strapped an extra FIVE pounds on each leg and said do the leg lifts..........um.......grunts, groans, and I finally got one leg to cooperate.  After 10 of those suckers with each leg I told him to kiss my happy hiney.

As a result of this I decided they deserved a little card from me - mainly for putting up with the general bull I dished out to them each time I went.   Those cute images are from the Grumplings over at Taylored Expressions. The patterned paper is from somewhere but no idea where.  Used some distress inks and did some sponging behind the image, added a little Wink of Stella, and that's about it.  Hope this puts a smile on their face.

Thanks for stopping by............and have a great weekend!

T Day

Hey everyone.......it's T Day!!!!  It's not only Tuesday, but Thanksgiving as well!  This is a card I'd done for Thanksgiving way back in November and yet never posted.   I know I'm a little bit late but it was on the camera and figured I'd post it now.

This little guy really wobbles too!  I used one of those wobbly thingy deals from Art Impressions behind the cute stamp from Pretty Cute Stamps.  Did a bit of sponging (that you can barely see behind it) and that was about it.  Very CAS.

I'll be back on Friday and who knows........maybe with a Fun Friday?  Shock, I know!
Thanks for stopping by..........

Cats and Dogs - But Not Raining

Rather plain and nothing fancy at all here but another card that was sent  for Sending Paw Prints.  The clouds are embossed with a heart die but you can't really see that in the picture.  I used a Newton's Nook cat and a Simon Says Stamp dog.

Thanks for stopping by.........and have a great weekend.

Got Mail?

The last couple of pictures I've posted on here have all looked crooked to me.  The only thing I can think of is that my head isn't screwed on right.  That's a very strong possibility too!!!  For some reason though, this one ALMOST looks straight.  Maybe the head is starting to cooperate a little more now - and then again, probably not.

Anyway............I used the Flowering Mailbox from Art Impressions on this card.  Did a little watercoloring with the Marvy markers and then framed it out using some Kraft, pink and purple type card stock.   Done deal.

Super Heroes

Y'all already know I love our little Rambo, but I actually love all animals!  Something that's dear to my heart are animal shelters and rescue groups -  and all the people involved in them - from the donors, volunteers, and foster parents, to all the wonderful people that adopt the animals.  They truly ARE heroes and it's time to give them all a big thank you!   They give each one of the animals so much love and care and there's so many animals that need that.   Jim always tells me that if it were possible I'd take in every four footed creature I could find.  I probably would if I just had  room for all of them but since Rambo's the complete boss in this house, I'm not real sure how that would go over.

Last week Connie mentioned a new (to me) challenge called Sending Paw Prints.  Of course I had to scoot over there (and enter my card) and see what it was all about.   I can't think of a nicer cause and a better place to send cards I make when they involve animals and thank you's.   Please go over to Karen's challenge blog and check it out.....and bless her heart for doing this.

Simple card.........Newton's Nook stamp and sentiment along with a Memory Box die.

I Made A Card!!!

Believe it or not, I'm here - and yes, I even made a card.  I won't comment on the quality of this card at all, but hey it's done and I'm posting it!  Such is life...........

I was unloading all the boxes in the craft room and found this scrap of Kraft paper.  Found my colored pencils, and another piece of cardstock!  WhooHoo!  I'm on a roll.  So, stopped with the unpacking and decided it was time to just take a break and color.  The image I used is from Newton's Nook.  Simple card since I couldn't find much of anything else but after finding the twine and dies, I got it colored and all ready to go.........and then couldn't find the paper cutter to do anything else so it all sat there for a couple of days.  Groan!  Finally found the paper cutter yesterday and cut away.  Also found a red heart.  Now granted there's no red on this card so why I added a red heart I have no idea other than the fact, I found it and used it -  so we'll deal with that.  Then found the die and cut out one in blue too and added it.  I mean, why not!

Ok, now I'm really rocking and rolling.  Camera, charger, and cord for the camera - check!  Adding it to Blogger in order to post - not so good.  It was an all morning affair.  It's amazing how you forget what you've done for so long but with some help from a cheat sheet, here it is.

The reasoning behind the Kraft and colored pencils (which I will say is NOT my cup of tea at all) is because of a challenge Darnell is having celebrating several things in her life.  Because Darnell is such a sweetie, I figured I'd at least toss this in the mix and enter.  Check out her challenge. I'll also enter this in the Inky Paws Challenge (to use a heart).

Everything else is going ok right now.  We are finally moved in - correction.......everything is in the house.  As far as putting it where it belongs and little things like that, it could be a while.  A LONG while.  I think Jim will be a happy little camper once I get the sheets off the windows and hang the curtains!    Just hanging in there and hoping that 2017 is a much better year for us.

Anyway.............thanks for stopping by and I'll try to be back soon.
